Quality Assurance Engineer

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist – Broadcasting is responsible for ensuring the highest technical and editorial quality of broadcast content across all transmission platforms. This role monitors live and recorded broadcasts, validates audio/video signals, verifies compliance with broadcast standards, and identifies issues before, during, and after transmission to ensure a seamless viewer experience.

Key Responsibilities Broadcast Quality Monitoring
  • Monitor live and recorded broadcasts to ensure audio, video, and signal quality meet broadcast standards.

  • Detect, log, and report issues such as signal loss, audio dropouts, lip-sync errors, pixelation, and transmission interruptions.

  • Perform pre-broadcast, live broadcast, and post-broadcast quality checks.

Technical & Operational QA
  • Verify correct playout of programs, commercials, graphics, subtitles, and metadata.

  • Ensure adherence to technical specifications (video formats, audio levels, frame rates, codecs).

  • Validate closed captions, subtitles, language tracks, and accessibility requirements.

Issue Management
  • Identify root causes of broadcast quality issues and escalate to engineering or operations teams.

  • Track incidents, defects, and corrective actions using QA or ticketing systems.

  • Support troubleshooting during live events and urgent broadcasts.

Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure broadcasts comply with internal QA guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  • Maintain documentation of QA procedures, test results, and quality reports.

  • Support audits and quality reviews.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with Broadcast Operations, Engineering, Content, and Playout teams.

  • Recommend process improvements to enhance broadcast reliability and quality.

  • Participate in testing of new systems, workflows, or broadcast technologies.
