The accounting team is responsible for the organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, pay sources, and the financial community. Healthcare accounting professionals analyze data, maintain financial reports, cash flow and balance sheets for practices and organizations.

Practice administrators and executives are responsible for successfully managing and operating medical practices and healthcare organizations. They provide clinicians and other staff with the resources and expertise required to meet patient needs and to meet the financial objectives of the group practice or organization. Numerous other non-clinical positions support the operations in a variety of roles to meet the ongoing needs of medical facilities.

Billing and coding teams are responsible for gathering charge information, coding, and entering that information into the EHR or database to complete the billing process. The team is responsible for processing and filing insurance claims and assisting patients with billing support. Coders under the direction of a clinical operations supervisor, performs various duties to accurately interpret and bill physician charges for physician services and often assists with entering the charges into the billing system with the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.

Clinical staff provides professional care for patients under the direction of a provider which can include assistance with patient assessment, diagnostics, treatment and medical care by following established standards and practices. They assist physicians and other staff in coordinating patient care and function as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians.

Information technology staff and leaders are responsible for supporting network databases, hardware and software systems. They are responsible to keep systems up to date, troubleshoot for system errors, and assist with optimization and the security of patient and organization data.

HR leaders and personnel are typically responsible for recruiting, screening, assistance with interviews, and placement of workers. They often handle employee relations, compliance with labor laws, payroll, benefits, and may assist with training employees.
